On Saturday, September 14, 2019, MyCom and Saving Our Daughters hosted All American actress Bre-Z with a message of empowerment to girls from over six MyCom Cleveland Neighborhood Schools to kick-off the MyCom & Saving Our Daughters Literacy Luncheon Series.

The luncheon was co-hosted by Radio One’s Kenya Brown of 93.1 FM WZAK and Brenda Pryor, MyCom Coordinator for the Maple Heights & Warrensville Heights Communities.

The emotional day included Bre-Z speaking to the girls and their families about her role in the new Netfix series, making positive choices and her personal beliefs about self-awareness. She was honest and powerful in her speech on the importance of self-worth as females.

“I am inspired by everyone I see. I don’t think one person has it all together. Everywhere I go I see things I want to be and don’t want to be. I am even inspired by things I see that I don’t want to be.” Bre-Z.

Bre-Z was escorted to each table by Ms. Brown and Ms. Pryor where she engaged with the girls at each table-there was a lot of laughter, tears, smiles.

As a part of the luncheon, each girl was given a copy of the book, “I Want To Be Me, But I Don’t Know Who I Am”, by Madelyn Boskovitz, Ph.D.
