July 12, 2021News » MyCom Network Director Named Chairperson of the Ohio Afterschool Network

The MyCom Intermediary Team would like to congratulate our very own Kasey Morgan for her appointment as Chairperson of the Ohio Afterschool Network.

Afterschool programs keep kids safe, inspire them to learn, and give working parents peace of mind. They help children learn, grow, and reach their full potential, offering new learning opportunities that help students do better in school and in life. Children in afterschool programs attend school more often, get better grades, and are more likely to graduate. They are less likely to use drugs or alcohol.

But too many children are missing out. For every child in a program, three are waiting to get in. Nationwide, 7.7 million children are on their own between 3 and 6 p.m.

Established in 2003, The Ohio Afterschool Network is the only statewide organization dedicated to increasing high-quality afterschool and expanded learning opportunities for school-age children, youth, and families in Ohio.

OAN is composed of diverse stakeholders in education, afterschool, out-of-school time, summer, and youth programs. OAN provides resources for programs and families and works to promote innovative afterschool policies to improve student achievement.

OAN is a Convener, a Connector, and a Collective Voice. We draw together providers, partner organizations, and allies to have a space to share and learn from one another; help those seeking resources, information, or partners to make connections in a meaningful way; and unite the field to make needs and concerns heard.

MyCom Network Director, Kasey T. Morgan, was nominated and accepted the position of Chairperson of the Ohio Afterschool Network. Congratulations Kasey!
