November 8, 2021News » STIR Academy Brings Youth Cooking to Our Clark-Fulton, Ohio City & Tremont MyCom Region

Check out our event submitted by our MyCom Regional Coordinator at Metro West Community Development Organization for the Clark-Fulton, Ohio City, and Tremont neighborhoods!

Ten Urban Community School students have been cooking up tasty meals this trimester with Cleveland’s STIR Studio – learning about food, nutrition, and meal preparation.

Owner and class instructor, Charlie Denk, has engaged STIR Academy students to not only learn but have fun in the kitchen. For example. students assisted in making fajitas. Simple tips like how to cut a pepper, dice onions, and properly sear meat are simple ways our kids learn how to safely cook and build skills for life. Other meals created so far have been homemade pizza, French fries, pudding, and nachos!

Urban Community School’s Grant & Database Coordinator, Beth Watson Standring, said,

“We are so grateful to MyCom for its continued support of our Middle School Academy program. The STIR Academy has quickly become a student favorite! Thank you for supporting the mission of Urban Community School.”
