Saving our Daughters and MyCom present a Literacy Luncheon with Lyric Ross, television star from NBC’s hit show This is Us.  Young women and their adult mentors will be treated to a lunch and conversation with Lyric Ross around pursuing your dreams, self esteem, transitions and difficult decisions.


Lyric portrays Deja, who was a foster child with a strong relationship with her biological mother, who chose to be adopted by her foster family, the Pearson’s.  Deja seeks stability but still loves her mother.


Lyric Ross is a 2019 NAACP Image Award Nominee for Outstanding Performance by a Youth.    Her television debut came at the age of 11 when she appeared in a episode of the USA Network series Sirens and NBC’s Chicago Fire in 2015.  Not long after, Lyric joined the cast of the Indie film entitled The Year that Changed Us; the Untitled Lena Waithe Project and the 2018 Indie film, Canal Street.  Happiest when performing, Lyric displays a confidence adn maturity that is beyond her years.  When not filming, Lyric indulges in her love for math, science, music, fashion, movies and good food.


The show, This is Us, has won numerous awards: 2018 & 2019 Screen Actor’s Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, 2018 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Dram Series, 2017 Peoples Choice Award for Favorite New Drama, 2017 TCA Award for Outstanding New Program, and 2017 MTV Movie & TV Award for Tearjerker.  If you are interested in attending click here to reserve tickets.
