April 3, 2019Youth in Action » West Park Job Club

The West Park Teen Job Club meets at John Marshall High School, weekly on Thursdays  and has 12 members.   Youth gather each week to learn leadership and job readiness skills. However, their activities do not end in the classroom.  The Job Club also participates in community events and does community services projects.  Over Spring Break Job Club members traveled from the West Side of Cleveland to the East Side to prepare dinner for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.  The Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland is a nonprofit organization that supports families whose children are receiving treatment at nearby medical centers by providing a home like environment.  The youth prepared a menu of Chicken Alfredo pasta, garlic bread and salad, with cake for desert.  They worked together as a team to prepare this meal for 70 Ronald McDonald House guests.  Reflecting on the event Olivia Bonelli said, “I felt as though I did something good for this world, because I don’t get to do much for other people and when I do I feel happier and I know they really appreciated what we did for them.”

The Job Club is currently finalizing plans for the annual Job Fair they organize for youth living on the west side of Cleveland.  For more information contact Vanessa Lange, MyCom Coordinator at Bellaire Puritas Development, at v.lange@bpdc.org
