MyCom's Thankful Thursday: Celebrating Andre Parker

Thank you to our Safe Passage Team Member: Andre Taylor

MyCom teamed up with community partners and Cleveland Metropolitan School District to enhance the district’s Stay Safe & Aware campaign with the Safe Passage Project. The Expanded Safe Passage program was created to increase the multi-agency enforcement partnership inclusive of law enforcement, community partners and concerned citizens to provide preventive services.

5 Questions with Andre Taylor

1. What do you think is the best thing about the Safe Passages program?
   Safety and the trust that the team and I build with the school parents and children.
2. What is your favorite memory from the program?
   Being able to put a smile on each child’s face because they know that I’m concerned and there for their safety.
3. What is one thing you have seen change for the better because of your work with Safe Passages in the community or the children/young adults?  
   An understanding within the children and community that safety is our greatest concern and a sense of togetherness within the community.
4. Who or what inspires you to do this work?
   My life story. I grew up on these streets and this my way of giving back.
5. What is one lesson/thought you would offer to other youth development leaders?
   Put a lot of passion in this work, gain the knowledge to know this work, and don’t be afraid to ask questions and listen to the voices of the youth.
