Among the entries at the recent ABC Chili Cook Off was West Park MyCom Regional Coordinator Lanice McKinney’s “Village Vegetarian”.
The annual event is a fundraiser for Art House Inc., a MyCom network partner celebrating 25 years as a non-profit arts center in Brooklyn Center.
Local artists and residents founded Art House in 1999 to inspire expression through the visual arts. The 3,000 square foot studio on Dennison Ave. hosts art classes and workshops for adults and children, professional development opportunities for educators and artists. The organization also features outreach programs for local schools and businesses.
From May 3-17, Art House will host their Urban Bright exhibition, featuring the work of students from seven area schools that collaborate in the arts-in-education program.
MyCom will enact our mission with race and equality at the forefront of our work as we always have. We will use our thought-leadership, funding, advocacy, and network to redesign service delivery. Together we will rethink infrastructure and create solutions that eliminate access to healthcare, cyclical poverty, access to quality education, housing stability, and other barriers that have impacted black lives.
