Fifty job offers and 17 on-the-spot hires were made at the recent Aerozone Alliance Job Fair at Cleveland Hopkins Regional Airport.
Lanice McKinney, the MyCom Regional Coordinator of Jefferson-Puritas-West Park-Kamms Corner, emceed the event. It is the second job fair in a pilot program organized by Jobs Ohio and the Aerozone Alliance, making the connection between airport employers and job seekers a smoother and easier experience.
Over 110 people pre-registered for the March 5 event, and 42 walk-up attendees came to the event featuring 12 employers. In addition to the immediate hires, other positions were pending background checks and other pre-employment screening. The first job fair was held in December and resulted in 55 jobs being filled.
“The Aerozone Alliance Job Fair is an example of how the MyCom Youth Development Network strengthens opportunities for our young adults. With our partners from Aerozone and OhioMeansJobs.com, MyCom was able to bring our young adults from the Jefferson-Puritas-West Park-Kamms Corner neighborhood and the employers together. MyCom was able to generate both the interest of our young adults in cultivating successful futures and employers to invest in our youth. We thank everyone who made this event such a success,” Kasey Morgan, MyCom Chief Strategy Officer.
MyCom will enact our mission with race and equality at the forefront of our work as we always have. We will use our thought-leadership, funding, advocacy, and network to redesign service delivery. Together we will rethink infrastructure and create solutions that eliminate access to healthcare, cyclical poverty, access to quality education, housing stability, and other barriers that have impacted black lives.
