Regional Spotlight Interview with MyCom Coordinator David Ramsey
What are the youth development priorities for the Detroit Shoreway Region?
We work with our youth to create pathways to sustainable income and family support. A sense of responsibility and a role in the families ability to survive is critically important for young people and a very important part of the development of a sense of pride for youth. This is accomplished through partnerships with Y.O.U. (Youth Opportunities Unlimited), youth hygiene bags, and strategic programming centered around the engagement of soft skills.
What actions & strategies does the Detroit Shoreway Region use to address the youth development priorities?
We are coordinating events and pop-ups to engage youth in the idea of programming and neighborhood awareness. During these, we ensure information for Y.O.U. is available, as well as programming designed to develop soft skills and communication.
